What exactly is a design partnership?
It's a close collaboration between your textile service operation and our product management team.
It always centres on a specific product planned by SoCom. You contribute your requirements, experience and processes at an early stage.
This is how new digital solutions are developed from practice, for practice.
-
What's the difference to a development request?
A development request usually relates to individual features or adjustments within an existing product or module.
A design partnership starts earlier. It's about developing a new product or module.
As a design partner, you bring your requirements, ideas and processes in during an early concept phase, resulting in a new solution that genuinely reflects the needs of different laundries.
-
Am I automatically involved in every new product?
NNo. A design partnership always relates to a specific product.
You decide which planned SoCom product you'd like to get involved in. There's no automatic involvement in every new product.
-
Is a design partnership right for us?
Yes, if you want to actively help shape new digital solutions and are open to exchange with SoCom and other design partners.
It's a particularly good fit for textile service operations that can contribute requirements, process knowledge, special cases or feedback from day-to-day operations.
It's especially worthwhile for customers who see real added value for their daily processes in a new product and want to help shape it early on.
-
How does the collaboration work?
The collaboration starts with a product idea or a rough concept from SoCom.
We then gather requirements, topics and challenges from your day-to-day laundry operations together. This happens at round tables with all design partners, as well as through personal exchange with our product management team.
Round tables are typically attended by people from management as well as staff from production, bringing together both strategic and operational specialist knowledge.
On this basis, a first product version is created. It is then tested, refined and finally rolled into a new release of our software solution.
-
How much time should I allow for this?
The time commitment stays manageable.
Collaboration takes place through round tables at sensible intervals of roughly 8 to 10 weeks. Each round table lasts around 1.5 to a maximum of 2 hours.
For the design partnership as a whole, you should generally allow for around a year or longer. The exact timeframe depends on the complexity of the new solution and its stage of development.
-
What does a design partnership cost?
A design partnership involves a fee.
The specific cost depends on the product in question, the scope of the collaboration and the complexity of the new solution.
In return, design partners benefit from financial advantages: there are no installation or service costs. This alone saves you roughly 50 per cent of the cost of a design partnership that would otherwise go towards training your staff.
You also receive a permanent discount on the rental price of the new product. As a result, a design partnership typically pays for itself in full within 2 to 4 years.
In a personal conversation, we'll clarify transparently what scope is planned for the relevant product and which services are included.
-
What are the benefits for me?
You gain early insight into new SoCom solutions and can actively help shape them.
Your requirements are factored in before the product is finalised and rolled into a new release.
Design partners also benefit from financial advantages: there are no installation or service costs. This alone saves you roughly 50 per cent of the cost of a design partnership that would otherwise go towards training your staff.
You also receive permanent discounts on the jointly developed product — resulting in solutions that are closer to your processes and deliver genuine added value in day-to-day operations.
